This Privacy Policy describes how Docket ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our platform. This is a demo document for a prototype and does not reflect a real, legally binding policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, such as your account details, the claims, rebuttals, comments, and sources you post, and any content you upload. We also collect information automatically, including device information, usage data, and approximate location, to operate and improve the platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to provide and maintain the platform, personalize your feed, compute credibility and validity scores, communicate with you, ensure platform integrity (including moderating the Swap feature and enforcing community guidelines), and comply with legal obligations.
3. Sharing of Information
Public content you post — claims, rebuttals, comments, and profile information — is visible to other users by design. We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the platform, or when required by law. When you choose a password, we check it against the public HaveIBeenPwned breach list using a privacy-preserving method: only the first five characters of a one-way hash leave your device — never the password itself.
4. The Swap Feature
When you use Swap, content is posted under another account's identity for a limited window. We retain an internal audit trail of swap activity, including which account posted what and when, even though this attribution is not shown publicly beyond the "posted during a swap" indicator.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as light or dark theme), and understand how the platform is used.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Deleted swap posts are removed from public view but may be retained internally as part of an audit trail.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage many of these settings directly from your profile's privacy settings.
8. Children's Privacy
This platform is not directed to children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy with a new effective date.
